This page explains, in plain words, what Lifeboat Inspections (www.lifeboatinspections.com) collects about you, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.
Who we are
Lifeboat Inspections coordinates lifeboat, davit and release gear inspections at ports worldwide, between shipping companies and approved service providers. Questions about your information go to hello@lifeboatinspections.com.
What we collect
- Inspection requests: what you type into a request form, such as your name, company, email, phone, the vessel, the port, the dates and any documents you attach.
- Accounts: for shipping companies and service providers, your name, email address, company name and a securely scrambled password; for providers, also the company details, approvals and certificates you add.
- Work on the platform: vessels, quotations, messages, inspection jobs and their reports and photos.
- Sign in with Google: if you choose it, Google tells us only your name, email address and Google account id. We get no access to your Gmail, contacts, files or anything else in your Google account.
- Technical details: the pages you visit, your browser and your IP address, which we keep with each sign-in for security.
Why we use it
To arrange the inspections you ask for, find the right service provider, send quotations and reports, keep your account working and safe, answer your questions, and improve the website. We don't use your information for anything else.
Cookies and analytics
- Sign-in cookies keep you signed in and protect the forms. They are needed for the site to work.
- Google Analytics counts visits and shows which pages are useful. It sets its own cookies.
- Tidemark, our own visitor statistics, uses no cookies. Proofsplit, our own tool for testing two versions of a page, may remember which version you saw.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser at any time; the site still works, but you'll need to sign in again.
Who we share it with
When you ask for an inspection, we share the job details with the service provider chosen for that job, so they can quote and do the work. We also use trusted services to run the site (hosting, email delivery and the analytics above). We never sell your information.
How long we keep it
We keep account, request and inspection records for as long as your account is open and as long as needed for the inspection history ships and authorities rely on. Sign-in records are cleared when you sign out. Ask us and we'll delete what we don't have to keep.
Your choices
To get a copy of your information, correct it, or have it deleted, email hello@lifeboatinspections.com from the address on your account. We'll reply within 30 days. You can disconnect Google at any time in your Google account settings; you can then still sign in with your email and a password (use "Forgot password?" to set one).
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
